Communication Preferences

An original TraitMap reflection. It organizes your own answers and has not been validated as a psychological scale. The indicators describe these answers, not a population rank or a diagnosis.

What we ask

Think about your own preferences in recent conversations. A preference can differ across relationships; use one setting throughout this reflection.

How the report is calculated

Each indicator groups two original items. We show the mean of their 1–5 answers only when both were applicable. “Not applicable” is never treated as zero or an average response. No overall score or forced ranking is created.

These small item groups have not undergone reliability or validity studies. Treat them as an organized record of your answers, with a question to discuss or reflect on.

Answer-quality checks

We display a review reminder when at least eight rated items all receive the same response, or completion takes less than one second per item on average. For Big Five, we also check five related item pairs (1/6, 3/38, 5/40, 15/30, 7/32): three or more differences of at least three scale points after reverse scoring trigger a reminder.

These are transparent heuristics, not validated lie detection or reliability estimates. Different situations can explain differences. A reminder does not change scores or hide a report. They cannot prevent deliberate manipulation.
